Do you need to up your cultural intake? Fancy indulging in something that's a veritable visual feast? If you like your editorial with a bit of a bite, then look no further than newly launched The Hunger magazine.

The brainchild of world renowned photographer Rankin, The Hunger (and its sister website, hungertv.com) aim to feed creativity and fuel debate by showcasing those at the forefront of design, art, fashion, drama and music. The first issue of the biannual publication hit shelves this week and features fashion stories and lengthy interviews with names such as Plan B, Pamela Love and Michael Sheen, as well as articles and commentary on world affairs, entertainment and travel. Accompanying each spread are captivating images and portraits, selected by Rankin and often captured in his inimitable style.

To keeps things fresh between issues, Hunger TV will be updated weekly and will provide a dynamic accompaniment to the print edition. As well as snippets of textual and visual content from the magazine, the site will host exclusive fashion videos, documentaries and mini interviews with rising stars and respected icons alike.

As a bit of an all round arts enthusiast and creative myself (I fleetingly considered following a path filled with sketches rather than words), this slickly presented collection of imagery and insight really excites me, especially since Rankin himself has stated that he 'intends for [The Hunger and Hunger TV] to become a platform for young emerging talent across all artistic fields.' Unlike his approach with the now hugely successful Dazed and Confused and AnOther magazines, it seems that Rankin intends to remain fully at the helm of this title and so I will be particularly interested to see who and what this creative giant feels represents the future of each discipline.
